Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
Submitted manuscripts to the International Journal of Integrative Studies should adhere to basic standards for readability and interpretation by the Editorial team. Manuscripts failing to meet these criteria will be returned to the authors.
Article Types & Format
Original/Research Articles:
These articles present unpublished data, offering detailed explanations of methods, methodologies, and investigation results supported by evidence.
Sections typically include:
Introduction: Identifies the research aim.
Methods: Describes applied methods, study design, and participant selection details.
Results: Presents research findings.
Conclusions: Addresses implications for clinical practice or health policy.
Review Articles:
These provide comprehensive literature reviews of published data, discussing significant research topics and progress over time.
Case Reports:
Descriptions of clinical condition symptoms, signs, diagnosis, and treatment methods, often featuring novel cases and including literature reviews.
Editorials:
Short articles written by editors or editorial staff.
Commentaries:
Discussions of research topics, addressing difficulties or proposing solutions.
Corrigendum:
Rectifications or adjustments due to author errors.
Expert Opinion:
Articles by field experts promoting research or supporting knowledge advancement.
Letters to the Editor:
Addressed to the Editor-in-Chief, expressing agreement, disagreement, criticism, or praise for published articles, or correcting perceived errors.
Perspective Articles:
Authors' individual viewpoints on journal topics of interest.
Manuscript Structure:
Cover Letter, Title Page, Abstract and Keywords, Main Content, Acknowledgments, References, Tables, Figure Legends.
Cover Letter:
Addressed to the Editor-in-Chief or Special Issue editor, including article title, choice of IJIS for publication, statement of submission agreement, no multiple or duplicate submissions, conference details (if applicable), article type, and relation to previous submissions.
Title Page:
Includes full title (max 130 characters), running title (max 75 characters), list of authors' names, institutional affiliations, corresponding author's contact information, clinical trial registry or grant details, and manuscript word count.
Abstract and Keywords:
Concise abstract (max 300 words) outlining rationale, objectives, findings, and conclusions. Includes 3-5 keywords alphabetically arranged.
Abbreviations:
Use standard abbreviations; define nonstandard ones. Avoid abbreviations in the title. Define abbreviations upon first use in abstract and main text. Abbreviations in tables/figures should be defined in corresponding legends.
Manuscript Text:
Organized based on article type and study requirements. References indicated with corresponding numbers, superscripted at the end of statements.
Figures and Tables:
Numbered in order of citation in text. Tables placed after the references; figures submitted as separate files. Figure legends include clear explanations of figure parts and reference numbers.
Conflicts of Interest:
Statement regarding author conflicts of interest to avoid post-publication discrepancies.
Acknowledgments:
Includes individuals/groups not meeting authorship criteria but contributing to research, medical writing experts, funding sources, and conference details if applicable. Requires individual written consent for inclusion.
References:
Authors ensure accuracy and completeness.
References listed on a separate page, double-spaced, numbered consecutively.
Identify references in text, tables, and legends with Arabic numerals in parentheses.
Journals' names abbreviated according to Index Medicus/Medline.
References to unpublished studies indicate publication status and use "in press."
Suffixes (Jr, Sr, III) follow author initials.
Examples provided for various reference types.
Tables:
Prepared using Word Table tools; no duplicate data from text.
Numbered in order of citation; references within tables follow main reference list order.
Figure Legends:
Included at manuscript end; clearly explain figure parts.
References within legends numbered according to figure citation in text.
Figures and Illustrations:
Numbered by citation order in text; include brief titles.
Submitted as separate .jpg or .png files; high resolution.
Clinical photographs with patient identification require signed consent or masking.
Supplementary Material:
Supporting online content required for various sections.
Submission Process:
Authors encouraged to verify article suitability; submit abstract for quick review.
Submission via online system or email attachment in .docx or Pdf format.
Include cover letter, manuscript, figures, tables, and supplemental material.
Exclusive submission to IJIS; no prior or concurrent publication consideration elsewhere.
